Error 17883 forcing shutdown and hard boot

Hi,
We have a SQL 2000 server on a 8 processor Dell server
that uses tables from another server (Linked Server).
Periodically it hangs up locking out out our.NET users. It
fails to display the linked server tables on EM.
The SQL logs show thes two lines:
The Scheduler 7 appears to be hung. SPID 0, ECID 0, UMS
Context 0x03EFC168.
Error: 17883, Severity: 1, State: 0
The server also shows a bunch of Application Pop-ups that
say:
"Application Popup error: SQL Server OLEDB provider
support error. Unable to load SQL Server OLEDB provider
resource dll."
Can someone help with a fix? Its a little tiresome to have
to shutdown and restart the server (which takes about 10
minutes).
Thanks very much.

Error 17883 - Scheduler appears to be hung - related to linked server or HT??

We have been getting the following errors on our production environment
lately.
Error: 17883, Severity: 1, State: 0
The Scheduler 0 appears to be hung. SPID 0, ECID 0, UMS Context 0x021B55C0
It appears that this error shows whenever we run a query with a linked
server. This error appears concurrently with an application popup on the
SQL server.
Application popup: SQL Server OLEDB provider support error : Unable to load
SQL Server OLEDB provider resource DLL. The application cannot continue.
We had this issue earlier with another machine which had parallelization
turned on. We turned it off because we believed the Hyperthreading w/
Parallelization was confusing this. Our old servers never had these issues
and were not HT enabled. The one box that was experiencing the problems
was/is behaving normally. However another box (same CPU, same no
parallelization settings) is having the issue when running a query using a
linked server to another SQL Server.
Our servers are SQL Server 2000 SP3, on Windows2000 SP4. With 2 3.2Ghz, HT
Enabled and 1.5GB RAM.
Thanks,
DanWe've seen the 17883 happen for a variety of reasons and symptoms.
It almost always comes down to disk i/o - contention issues. We had a
msde show this after being bombarded with query requests and with an 8
concurrent query limit.
Check to make sure that SQL Server is the ONLY one messing with
its' files. Make sure that on-access virus scan is off. As well as
backups or anything that might be going after the data and log files.
The last time this happened was because of virus scan and a policy set
that kept re-enabling on access scan.

Your problem is almost exactly what we are facing.
I did not know you had posted your question when I posted
mine ( I usually do a search before posting questions, but
I missed doing it this time). Check out 'my' thread on the
21st & 22nd with 17883 in the subject line.
Did you resolve your problem?
Did you go through any of the suggestions in my thread?
Hotfix to get a more precise indication?
Thanks very much.

I am trying to add a linked server from a AMD x64 server (Windows 2003) with SQL Server 2005 64 bit to a Server running SQL 2000. These are not in the same domain.

I can create a linked server using the option "Be made using the login's current security context" but can not when trying to specify the security context, i.e. sa and the sa password. When I try I get the following message:

Msg 15185, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_addlinkedsrvlogin, Line 98
There is no remote user 'sa' mapped to local user '(null)' from the remote server 'DTS_FSERVER'.

I have several other x64 server that I have no problem creating a linked server and specifying sa and the sa password.

The problem with using "the login's current security context" option is that I get an error when trying to run any Jobs against the linked server. The job fails withe the following error:

Executed as user: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. Access to the remote server is denied because no login-mapping exists. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 7416). The step failed.

I'm sure the two errors are related. Any ideas what is going on?

What is your context on the server when you get the first error message? How do your sp_addlinkedserver and sp_addlinkedsrvlogin commands look like?

For the second error message, the jobs probably execute with the SQL Agent service account credentials, which is LocalSystem and is unmapped. You should check the SQL Server Tools General forum for more information about SQL Agent.

Thanks

i have both servers in the same domain however when i try to link it show the above mentioned error. when i try to link from ne other server i m able to do but not from the clustered one.
please reply asap.|||

Iam trying to create a linked server(which is 32 bit SQL Server 2000) on 64 bit SLQ Server 2005 and iam receiving the following error.

Msg 15466, Level 16, State 2, Procedure sp_addlinkedsrvlogin, Line 91

An error occurred during decryption.

Msg 15185, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_addlinkedsrvlogin, Line 98

There is no remote user 'user1' mapped to local user '(null)' from the remote server 'SERVER1'.

Kerry- were you able to fix the error that you received. Anyone who are aware of this, please help me.

Thanks

Error 15185: There is no remote user 'sa' mapped to local user '(null)' from the remote

Thanks
Laurentiu

Error :Execute Trigger From Remote Server To another Server By Linked Server

i did "Linked server" between To Servers , and it's Working.

For Example :

Server 1 =S1.

Server = S2.

i create table in S1 : name = TblS1

i create same table in S2 : name TblS2

and i create trigger(name tr_cpD) From S1 in TblS1 For send data To TblS2 in S2

/****************** trigger Code ***************

CREATE TRIGGER dbo.tr_cpD

ON dbo.TblS1

AFTER INSERT

AS

BEGIN

SET NOCOUNT ON;

insert into [S2].[dbname].[dbo].[TblS2] Select ID,Name from inserted

END

**************************************************

result is :

Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Procedure tr_cpD, Line 14

The OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "S2" reported an error. The provider did not give any information about the error.

Msg 7312, Level 16, State 1, Procedure tr_cpD, Line 14

Invalid use of schema or catalog for OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "S2". A four-part name was supplied, but the provider does not expose the necessary interfaces to use a catalog or schema.

how i can execute this trigger

Just to clarify: does the insert statement work outside of the trigger from the same S1 server?|||

Yes.

it's Work from Stored Procduers without TRAN (Transaction) .

if i use Transaction From Stored Procduers is not work.

Give me same result above.

|||Is MSDTC enabled on both servers? I think insert from the trigger into a linked server is done inside the distributed transaction.
But I would expect some transaction specific error if it was not so.|||

Microsoft proived some solution, how to overcome this problem. Try it.

I tried in the LAN its working fine. But, still in the WAN is not working.

Error "The OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" has not been registered." on SQL 2005 6

Hi,
I am trying to create a linked server from SQL server 2005 (64bit) to IB 7.5 database.

I installed the driver for IB on SQL box and created a System DNS (using
%SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe), tested the connection fine.

Now, on SQL Management Studio, created a linked server to use the System DSN,
sp_addlinkedserver 'MyLinkedSrv', ' ', 'MSDASQL', 'MySYSDNS' -- went fine.

Then ran the openquery,
select * from OPENQUERY(MyLinkedSrv, 'select * from services')

An error msg returned fro the openquery.
The OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" has not been registered.

What am I missing here? I tried with "Native SQL Client" instead MSDASQL but it returns me invaild parameters...

Any advice on this would be aprreciated.

Regards,
Sunny

Error

Hi everyone,
i added a linked server to my SQL Server. Its a link to an
Access database from which i get data through ASP pages.
In some pages i get and error saying that i cant use text
type cursor and ntext, text and image colums are requested
and not supported.
" Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
error '80040e14' "
Anyone can tell me how can i fix this problem?
ThanksIt's possible that the particular Access driver you are using does not
support text data types. Are you on the latest version of MDAC and the
latest version of Access?
What is the exact error message you get?
