error 15007: The login'anything' does not exist.

This error makes no sense to me whatsoever.
I'm using Enterprise Manager to create a new user for a new dbase and
regardless of anything I put in there, it gives me that 15007 message.Make sure the user that you are adding to the database has corresponding
login created.
Ex:
--To create login
use master
go
sp_addlogin 'user1', 'password'
go
--To add the user to the current database(here im picking up northwind).
use northwind
go
sp_grantdbaccess 'user1'
go

Error 14258 while creating a publication

Hi all,
I am trying to create a merge-publication (SQL 2000 SP4).
Unfortunately, it is not working because the wizard pops up with error
14258: Cannot perform this operation while SQL Server Agent is
starting. Try again later.
Checked both services, they seem correct. Both are using (the same)
domain-user with sufficient privs to access the SQLServer box. They
both run fine (all in the green) and there are no errors in the logs.
SQL itself runs fine and I can access all data from any computer in the
network.
Just to be sure, I've stopped and restarted both services but the same
error comes back again. I've checked all settings but as far as I can
see, the box is configured properly.
Any ideas?
Thx,
FS

|||Hmm, I guess I was too fast... Solved the problem already by googling a
bit further. As a thank you for reading I will share the solution :-)
When having MSDTC switched on _and_ using NT-fibres in the SQL
configuration, you can encounter this error. Switching the NT-fibres
off (and stopping and starting the services again) resolved the
problem. MSKB article, aaaaargh, how could I missed it in the first

Error 14027 When Trying to Configure P2P Topology

I'm beginning to wonder if replication is worth the trouble I've had to spend on it!

Trying to create a simple peer-to-peer replication topology. I can create the initial publication. I can change the property to allow P2P. I can backup the database and I can create a snapshot. When, however, I try to configure the peer-to-peer topology, I get a 14027 error message telling me that ONE table out of 250, or so, "does not exist in the current database." That's pretty troubling given that I can run a select query against that specific table. I would appreciate any information that would help me to understand what's going on or successfully set up replication.

Thanks!

Randy

Hi Randy,

To be honest, I am deeply puzzled by the error that you were getting as well. So let me ask you a few questions which will hopefully narrow down the problem somewhat:

1) Does the name of the table giving you problem contain any special characters ($%#@.\{} etc.) I am especially interested to know if there are any leading or trailing spaces in the table name.

2) Is the table owned by dbo or some other schema?

3) This is a long shot but is the table giving you problems really a table? Can it be an indexed view for example?

4) Is the table giving you trouble a partitioned table? A partitioned view?

For the sake of narrowing down the problem, it may be worthwhile to try setting up a separate (non-p2p) publication containing just the problematic table. It would also be great if you can post the row content corresponding to the problematic table when you execute sp_MShelp_replication_table in the publisher database.

Thanks for the feedback.

-Raymond

|||

Raymond,

Thank you for the response. In answer to your questions:

1. The only non alpha character is an underscore like this: claim_cat.

2. Table is owned by dbo

3. I dropped and recreated the table so it is definitely a table.

4. The table is a lookup with onlyl two columns, claim_cat and claim_cat_desc.

One thing I want to try this morning is setting up the entire replication before doing a full backup from the publisher, then initialize the replications from the backup. Originally, I had backed up the publisher database, restored it to the two subscribers, then created the replication. We'll see.

Thanks again.

Randy

|||

Hi Randy,

I find that your comment about using backups that were taken before the publication was created and the fact that you have dropped and recreated the problematic table to be rather interesting in the sense that it may point us to a potential explanation of your original problem. The current implementation of the p2p wizard makes very strong assumption that all nodes involved have identical schema, so is it possible that the p2p wizard hit the "table not found" error when it is setting up re-publishing from the nodes initialized with the slightly out-dated backup that happened to not contain the problematic table? In any case, it would be great if you can let us know if you have better luck setting up the topology with newer backups.

Hope that helps.

Error "The OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" has not been registered." on SQL 2005 6

Hi,
I am trying to create a linked server from SQL server 2005 (64bit) to IB 7.5 database.

I installed the driver for IB on SQL box and created a System DNS (using
%SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe), tested the connection fine.

Now, on SQL Management Studio, created a linked server to use the System DSN,
sp_addlinkedserver 'MyLinkedSrv', ' ', 'MSDASQL', 'MySYSDNS' -- went fine.

Then ran the openquery,
select * from OPENQUERY(MyLinkedSrv, 'select * from services')

An error msg returned fro the openquery.
The OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" has not been registered.

What am I missing here? I tried with "Native SQL Client" instead MSDASQL but it returns me invaild parameters...

Any advice on this would be aprreciated.

Sunny

The name "ErrorNumber" is not permitted in this context. Valid
expressions are constants, constant expressions, and (in some contexts)
variables. Column names are not permitted. This is not how TSQL work. You first do a SELECT of what the function returns, returning that as a
result set to the client, then you refer to just the word ERRORNUMBER in the insert statement, where
that word has no correlation to the prior SELECT. Skip the SELECT, hand do the INSERT like:
INSERT INTO tblname(col1, col2, col3...) --Always specify column names
VALUES(ERRORNUMBER(), ERRORSEVERITY(), ...)

Hint: that should be ERROR_NUMBER() not ErrorNumber
The select statement does not assign values, it selects them.
If you need to store the error information so that you can use it later you
will need to do things a bit differently within your stored procedure
DECLARE @.errNum int
SELECT @.errNum = ERROR_NUMBER()
Now you can use @.errNum at other parts of the stored procedure.

error - Cannot create a connection to data source

Hello.
I have installed reporting Services on a serevr and have a MS SQL DB on a
different server.I am using a domain id to coneect to db server which have
required access on database. Both the server are in same domain.
also I have configured a seperate application pool in IIS for
/reportmanager which is runnig under same domain ID which i used for
reporting service .
I have created a connection which is shared by all reports.
Now problem is while browsing report i am getting error -
"Cannot create a connection to data source 'dbSPSReportingSample'.
(rsErrorOpeningConnection)
SQL Server does not exist or access denied."
I am able to test connectivity to Db server using ODBC connection manager
succesfully.
Error in logfile says --
w3wp!processing!16a4!29/11/2007-14:43:59:: e ERROR: Data source
'dbSPSReportingSample': An error has occurred. Details:
Microsoft.ReportingServices.ReportProcessing.ReportProcessingException:

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: SQL Server does not exist or access
denied.
Please advice
Thanks
.When you deploy the data source the credentials do not get deployed and you
need to go to Report Manager and view the data source and set the
credentials. Have it be securely stored.
Also, I would strongly consider using a non-domain account if you can. If
you are able to have the Database server run in mixed mode then create an
SQL Server account just used for reporting. Then you can set stored
procedures to allow execute for this account. I put the account in a read
only role on the server. This keeps things clean. Plus, at my company, all
domain user ids are enforced to have the password changed every 90 days
which would be a real pain for this.

Go to the report manager interface and make sure that your data source
has the right credential information, after you deploy. When you say
that RS is on one server and SQL is on another server , do you mean
that there is one web server and one data base server ? In which case
I am guessing that the RS db would be on the second server as well.
This may create a double hop issue in the network where the first hop
will be from the web server to the RS database and the second hop
would be to your stored proc. You will need kerberos enabled on the
network. If you do then check the event viewer on the sql server box
to see whether the right kerberos ticket is getting through from the
web server to the database server .
Cheers

Yes I have 2 server
Server A (windows 2003) have IIS6 and SPS 2003 and reporting services
installd.
ServerB have SQL serevr and have DB for reporting services.
Both the server are in same domain.
I am giving right credentials in data source connection.
The reports i am using are SPS reports which i got after installing SPS pack
for SQL reporting server.
Thanks

Posted via http://www.usenet-replayer.comHi alex.
Your script really looks off the map in a few ways:
(a) create #table.. (what about columns?)
(b) insert into #table (what about values?)
(c) select ... from x,y,z (no join clauses - likely a major cartesian
product)
(d) select *... where t.a = d.a ... (there's no table / derived table
aliased as "d", although you do have a column aliased as "d")
Please post a better attempt at communicating your query so we've got at
least some chance of establishing what you're trying to achieve / what's
going wrong.

Error

I am trying to learn how to create error checking in my stored procedures, and apparently I am having some problems with it can anyone help me out pls??

CREATE PROCEDURE [InsertGCTerms]
AS
INSERT INTO [CommissionEmployee_Exclusionsdb].[dbo].[GCEmployeeTerms]([TM #],[FirstName],[LastName],[SocialSecurityNumber],[DateHired],[DepartmentName],[Title])
SELECT a.[TM#], a.LASTNAME, a.FIRSTNAME, a.[SSN#], a.HIREDATE,
a.[DEPT#], a.JOBTITLE FROM GOVEMPLYS AS a
WHERE a.STATUS = 'TERMINATED'
RETURN
GOCan you coach us just a bit on what to do if an error occurs? You can always use the "panic, scream, and shout" approach, but I generally prefer something just a bit more elegant!

-PatP|||I was trying to use the @.@. Error system function|||It appears that I'm not making my question very clear. Let's go for the ever loving example, maybe that will help!CREATE PROCEDURE [InsertGCTerms]
AS

INSERT INTO [CommissionEmployee_Exclusionsdb].[dbo].[GCEmployeeTerms] (
[TM #], [FirstName], [LastName]
, [SocialSecurityNumber], [DateHired], [DepartmentName]
, [Title] ) SELECT
a.[TM#], a.FIRSTNAME, a.LASTNAME
, a.[SSN#], a.HIREDATE , a.[DEPT#]
, a.JOBTITLE
FROM GOVEMPLYS AS a
WHERE a.STATUS = 'TERMINATED'

IF 0 <> @.@.error RAISERROR ('Scream and shout, run and panic!')

RETURN
GO-PatP|||Ok sorry I see your point..LOL that was funny, need a good laugh in the morning. sorry I didnt make myself clear. But basically pat you already answered my question and now I see where I went wrong. I am so glad I ordered the http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?userid=bsq1M1M1GT&isbn=1565924010&itm=1 Book this will help me out tremendously, I need a book all about programming in sql.|||I would look at

Ken Hendersons Book (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbninquiry.asp?userid=6F22YrtiAX&pwb=1&ean=9780201615760)

Also...did someone say error handling?

http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/brettk/archive/2004/05/25/1378.aspx|||Yes I originally ordered that book but apparently it was out of stock or something, they refunded my money back got the message via email. Yes I was inquiring about Error Handling|||Amazon out of stock?

I doubt it

And did you look at my link?

Follow the steps to save the tql file to your machine...|||ok Brett I ordered the book, those two should help me out tremendously. Thank you :)|||Great...but did you look at the error handling tql file in my blog?|||Yes Brett I am looking that over now thank yoiu

Erro 14040: The server "ServerB" is already a Subscriber

Hello.
I'm trying to create a Push subscription from ServerA to ServerB and am
getting the above message. I am using Enterprise Manager to do this.
ServerB already subscribes to a publication from ServerC.
I noticed that the error occurs on the first step of the "Completing the
Push Subscription Wizard", the one labelled "Enabling this server as a
subscriber" (for ServerB). Makes sense since ServerB would have already been
enabled because of the existing subscription to the publication on ServerC.
Is there a way to tell EM not to enable ServerB for subscriptions, or can
ServerB only subscribe to only one other server?
I'm running SQL 2000 SP3a.
Thanks in advance,
Mike
can you do this query and post the results back here?
select sub, srvname from sysservers where srvname='serverb'
Also check to see if ServerB is an enabled Subscriber. If so, uncheck/check
the check box and see if you get an error message.
