Error 1911 replication column does not exist

Source server MSSQL7.0
Destination server MSSQL2K

I'm setting up replication for reporting purposes to another SQL-server.
When I start the distribution agent I get the following error:
Column name '<here's the name of a column I didn't publish and don't need to replicate>' does not exist in the target table.
Error number: 1911

I assume this is because of some dependencies between the columns.

Is there any way I can replicate without those columns?

RegardsDependency doesn't get replicated unless you specified. If you think the error was caused by the column dependency, check the unique index and the foreign key constraint to see whether the 'for replication' is checked or not.|||Thanks, you gave me the hint I needed.
I was scripting the creation of the publication because I need to setup replication for over 20 db's.
In the script you have to change the sp_addarticle @.schema_option value.

Regards

Error 120

Hello.
I'm trying to run the following statement:
insert into [destination table]
([fields])
select [fields] from [source table]
When I try to run it, I get the following error messages:
Server: Msg 120, Level 15, State 1, Line 8
The select list for the INSERT statement contains fewer
items than the insert list. The number of SELECT values
must match the number of INSERT columns.
Server: Msg 8180, Level 16, State 1, Line 8
Statement(s) could not be prepared.
The select list matches the insert list exactly.
The source and destination tables are located on two
different (linked) servers.
Both servers are running MSSQL 2000 SP3a.
What am I doing wrong?
Thank you.
Without seeing the actual insert statement we can only guess. My guess
would be you have a space in one of the column names.

|||No, the statement is definitely OK, it works on other
servers, there's only one server it doesn't work on. And
it works if I run it locally, but it doesn't work when I
run it from another server.
Here are the statements:
declare @.IdSpatiu int,
@.IdTran int
set @.IdSpatiu = 15
set @.IdTran = 20
insert into [ts-331].Ploiesti.dbo.Factura
(IdSpatiu, IdTran, Numar)
select @.IdSpatiu, @.IdTran, Numar
from [ts-331].Deva.dbo.Factura
where IdTran = 11 and IdSpatiu = 9
If I replace "select @.IdSpatiu, @.IdTran, Numar"
with "select 15, 20, Numar", it works. It doesn't like
the variables in the select list.
If I'm connected to the server [ts-331], it works. But if
I'm connected to another server (to which ts-331 is
linked), it doesn't work.
It must be something about the ts-331 server. At first I
thought it must be the service pack, because it had no
service pack installed, but then I installed SP3a and the
problem persisted.
Thank you.

the Linked server is set up on that machine. Why do you want to do an
insert like that remotely anyway? It would be much cleaner if you had a
stored proc on the linked server that you call and pass in the 2 parameters.
That way the sp does not have to make any linked server calls at all when
actually doing the Insert.

Error : Cannot specify an index or locking hint for a remote data source

We are migrating from sql 7 to sql 2000 and for the time
being leaving the database in sql 7 compatabiliy mode.
Some of the stored procedures reference the tables on a
linked server. The linked server is running sql 2000 and
the database is sql 2000.
When I run the following command
select * from linked_server.database.dbo.tablename (nolock)
I receive the following error
Cannot specify an index or locking hint for a remote data
source.
If I remove the () around nolock the statement runs.
The question(s) I have
1. Did I set something up wrong?
2. Without the () is the nolock still performing the same
function?
3. Assumining I did not error on the configuration, Why do
I receive this error now, and not before?
4. Any ideas to fix the problem without removing the ()?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions/ideas.
John WilliamsWithout the brackets around nolock, the SQL query engine is assigning the
word 'nolock' as an alias to your table in the select statement (i.e.
equivalent to 'as [nolock]').

suggesting that the stored procedure we run on the server
that has the syntax.
Select & from linkerserver.database.dbo.table1 and instead
run a stored procedure on the linked server that
accomplishes the same thing? I can look into this as an
option.
Thanks...

remote server, instead of running an ad hoc query locally, you will have
more freedom over transactions within the proc, locking hints, etc. You
should always be using stored procs as opposed to ad hoc statements
anyway...

Try installing the service pack 2 or above.
this usually happens when a column contains images.

error - Cannot create a connection to data source

Hello.
I have installed reporting Services on a serevr and have a MS SQL DB on a
different server.I am using a domain id to coneect to db server which have
required access on database. Both the server are in same domain.
also I have configured a seperate application pool in IIS for
/reportmanager which is runnig under same domain ID which i used for
reporting service .
I have created a connection which is shared by all reports.
Now problem is while browsing report i am getting error -
"Cannot create a connection to data source 'dbSPSReportingSample'.
(rsErrorOpeningConnection)
SQL Server does not exist or access denied."
I am able to test connectivity to Db server using ODBC connection manager
succesfully.
Error in logfile says --
w3wp!processing!16a4!29/11/2007-14:43:59:: e ERROR: Data source
'dbSPSReportingSample': An error has occurred. Details:
Microsoft.ReportingServices.ReportProcessing.ReportProcessingException:
Cannot create a connection to data source 'dbSPSReportingSample'. -->
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: SQL Server does not exist or access
denied.
Please advice
Thanks
.When you deploy the data source the credentials do not get deployed and you
need to go to Report Manager and view the data source and set the
credentials. Have it be securely stored.
Also, I would strongly consider using a non-domain account if you can. If
you are able to have the Database server run in mixed mode then create an
SQL Server account just used for reporting. Then you can set stored
procedures to allow execute for this account. I put the account in a read
only role on the server. This keeps things clean. Plus, at my company, all
domain user ids are enforced to have the password changed every 90 days
which would be a real pain for this.

Thanks for your response.
1.The domain ID which i am using are service account and are set for "
Password never expire option."
2. In the shared connection i am using "credentials stored secuely in report
server"
Still getting the same error. is the error message in sql reporting log file
gives any hint where I am missing ?

Go to the report manager interface and make sure that your data source
has the right credential information, after you deploy. When you say
that RS is on one server and SQL is on another server , do you mean
that there is one web server and one data base server ? In which case
I am guessing that the RS db would be on the second server as well.
This may create a double hop issue in the network where the first hop
will be from the web server to the RS database and the second hop
would be to your stored proc. You will need kerberos enabled on the
network. If you do then check the event viewer on the sql server box
to see whether the right kerberos ticket is getting through from the
web server to the database server .
Cheers

Error - Attempted to read or write protected memory

Hi,

I am back with one more problem..

I have created few reports using SSRS 2005. I am using Oracle database in Data Source to fetch my data. It is working fine and showing me report correctly. But after running the report 8 to 10 times, it starts giving me Memory error. To get rid of that, I need to recycle (stop-start) ReportingService from IIS.

I am exactly getting following error...

Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

I am not getting the actual problem, why is it giving memory error only after running few times? Please let me know if anyone facing same problem or knowing the solution for the problem.

Thanks,

HMaheta

Dear HMaheta,

Check the DTC (Distributed Transaction Coordinator) service. It should be set up to to start automatically.

Hi Suprotim,

Thanks for your reply.

I checked for the DTC. It is running on the server and also marked for auto start up.

Is there any other thing, which I am missing?

Thanks,

HMaheta
