Hello all. I'm hoping I can get some insight as to what's going wrong
here. We have CRM 3.0 and want to give developers SRS Report Designer
on their workstations to design some reports. I'm trying to install SRS
2000 on the first developer's machine, and after running setup it gives
me three warnings indicating:
* IIS is not installed;
* ASP.NET is not installed or not registered with IIS;
* IIS is not installed. (This error is listed twice).
This is to be expected as it's a workstation, not a server. But it
should only prevent me from installing certain server components such
as the Report Manager, as far as I can tell. So I click Next and see it
preparing to install. Then comes the error:
SetDialogs
Error Code: 1603
I have VS.NET 2003 installed with Visual C++ and the .NET SDK. From my
reading, all that's necessary is the basic VS.NET framework, so this
should also be acceptable. So -- help. What can I do to get past this?
Is it expecting something particular? I'm running the SRS setup from
the CRM installation media; might that be a problem?Fixed it myself, fortunately. It turned out that all I had to do was
ensure the ASPNET account was present on the local machine. Just
creating this account made everything work quite happily. More
properly, I followed the instructions in KB 320112 to repair the 1.1
framework which had the effect of creating this account.

Error 10060
I have an Access front-end connected to a SQL Server database. A report that
used to work fine still opens fine in Preview mode, but when you go to print,
after a long delay it finally generates the error:
Connection failed:
SQLState: '01000'
SQL Server Error: 10060
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionOpen
{PreLoginHandshake()}.
Connection Failed:
SQL State: '08001'
SQL Server Error: 11
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]General network error.Check
your network documentation.
and hangs up the server (the users have been restarting it to get back up
and running).
Would appreciate any ideas to help me resolve this. I have copied the
database and app to another system and did not have any problems there, so I
suspect the problem is with SQL Server on the first system.

Hello Carole,
Because the issue does not occur when previewing, it seems to be related to
printer driver. I suggest that you use the printer "Microsoft Office
document image writer" as default printer. Does the issue occurs at this
time?
Also, please install the latest MDAC 2.8 sp1 on the cleint to test the
sitaution.
If you copy the database to a different client, can you reproduce the
issue? Have a great day!

|||This print job has to go to a specific printer, which is also used for
numerous other reports that don't lock up SQL Server. If I use the image
writer as my default printer, won't that just create a file on disk -- that
isn't a viable solution.
I cannot reproduce the error on another server, though it happens fairly
consistently from all the clients on the problem server.

I'd like to explain the suggestions I provided is just to narrow down the
issue, other than a permanet solution. If the "Microsoft Office document
image writer" works. We shall take some actions to reolve the printer
driver or related issue on this machine. Or, we shall find other possible
cause.
To check if the issue is relate to user profile, I suggest that you create
a new user on this machine with admin rights and log on as this new user to
test the situation.

I have an Access front-end connected to a SQL Server database. A report that
used to work fine still opens fine in Preview mode, but when you go to print
,
after a long delay it finally generates the error:
Connection failed:

SQL Server Error: 10060

document image writer" as default printer. Does the issue occurs at this
time?

I'd like to explain the suggestions I provided is just to narrow down the
issue, other than a permanet solution. If the "Microsoft Office document
image writer" works. We shall take some actions to reolve the printer
driver or related issue on this machine. Or, we shall find other possible
cause.
To check if the issue is relate to user profile, I suggest that you create
a new user on this machine with admin rights and log on as this new user to
test the situation.

I'd like to explain the suggestions I provided is just to narrow down the
issue, other than a permanet solution. If the "Microsoft Office document
image writer" works. We shall take some actions to reolve the printer
driver or related issue on this machine. Or, we shall find other possible
cause.
To check if the issue is relate to user profile, I suggest that you create
a new user on this machine with admin rights and log on as this new user to
test the situation.

Error 0x800C0008 with multiple subreports
Hi,
strange behaviour in our production environment, while in the test servers all goes ok:
web application with web report viewer, the report is fine but clicking on "preview" or "print" an error 0x800C008 occurs.
The report include 3 subreports, and here's the problem: after some attempts i realized that each subreport (alone in the master report) works fine, but more than 1 in the same master report produces the error!

Hi all,
we found the solution and so we can post it for public utility.
The problem were related to the size of reports.
When reports exceed a few bytes, reporting services uses a "transfer-enconding: chunked" header in the http message from the rssclientreport object in the html page.
So, a proxy in the middle of our architecture were unable to do its job because it didn't understand that header; an installation of the last version of that proxy solved the problem.
We didn't found any way to change that behavior of ssrs2005 and forcing it to use standard transfer encoding.

error [BC30494] Line is too long
Hi,
I have a problem with a report in SSRS 2005. I tried to add some custom code to a report.
The code is absolutely simple and correct.
But when trying to show the report the debugger shows the following error message:
error [BC30494] Line is too long.
When I remove the code the report works again.
The code is about 12 words and could not be the problem.
Could anyone help please?

I have a problem with a report in SSRS 2005. I tried to add some custom code
to a report.
The code is absolutely simple and correct.
But when trying to show the report the debugger shows the following error
message:
error [BC30494] Line is too long.
When I remove the code the report works again.
The code is about 12 words and could not be the problem.
Could anyone help please?

Error (bug?) when hiding subtotals in Report Builder report from AS2005 cube
I consequently get an error
message in Report Builder (version 9.0.2047.0) when I make a report
without subtotals when I have the Key attribute of a dimension in
combination with a measure.
The following Report is OK, but when I unselect Show Subtotals, I get an error message.

Because I don't know if the issue is related to Reporting Services or Analysis Services I posted in both forums.

We are using a SQL Server 2005 / Reporting Services 2005 running on the same machine whereas the virtual directories Reports and Reportserver are running in a separate Application Pool

Hi, I am using VB6 and sometimes when I try to display a report using cristal report 11 , I get this error "Logon Fail", I am working with SQL 2005 ENTERPRISE EDITION.
I want to know if I need an aditional configuration or something like that.

There should be a more datiled error message with the error number and state which explains why the logon failed.

Error "Connection Could not be made to the report server" when attempting deployment
I'm working through the SQL2005 Reporting Services Tutorial. When I try to deploy, I get the error "Connection could not be made to the report server." It appears that I do not have permissions to get to localhost/reportserver (I get a permissions error when just trying to get there directly from "run"). In another forum I saw several people having the same issue. One contributor said that the problem was solved for him by uninstalling SQL2005 and reinstalling using the local system account rather than a windows domain account. I tried that, but am getting the same error. Anyone know how to fix this?
If the error you get from the RS URL is access denied, you may need to get permissions to the report server.

If the error is coming from ASP.NET, there may be a configuration issue with your RS server.

My initial thought was that the server wasn’t running I tried this step below also found on the Sample Reports instructions:-
Type the Report Manager URL in the address bar of a Web browser. By default, the URL is http://<webservername>/reports. If you are using SQL Server Express, the default URL is http://localhost/reports$SQLExpress.
This didn’t work, I note the URL is different to one generating the error message.What should I expect if this is my first deployment?
Also is it possible to identify if the server is running using Services from Administrative Tools (Control Panel)?

I must apologise after much digging around I found this tiny caveat in the system requirements required to run SQL Server Express with Advanced Services on XP Home
1Reporting Services, which is installed as part of SQL Server Express with Advanced Services, will not install on operating systems that do not include Internet Information Services (IIS).

I guess this is my problem. I wrongly assumed that Microsoft had taken a similar approach to this VERY VERY annoying IIS problem for XP Home users as they had done with their Visual Web Developer Express editions.

I tried many funny things... initially, I got it to work a bit and not entirely.
You can check out my documented troubleshooting events here.
But the conclusion is like what you have mentioned.
Eventually, the real solution is to reinstall SQL Server 2005 Express with Advance Features (reporting services) using default settings (local system account and also for Report Server) and then it worked! But actually I reinstalled two times.
But it could be possible that during previous installations, certain settings were skipped by the installer and caused the misbehaviour.

I'm working through the SQL2005 Reporting Services Tutorial. When I try to deploy, I get the error "Connection could not be made to the report server." It appears that I do not have permissions to get to localhost/reportserver (I get a permissions error when just trying to get there directly from "run"). In another forum I saw several people having the same issue. One contributor said that the problem was solved for him by uninstalling SQL2005 and reinstalling using the local system account rather than a windows domain account. I tried that, but am getting the same error. Anyone know how to fix this?
If the error you get from the RS URL is access denied, you may need to get permissions to the report server.

If the error is coming from ASP.NET, there may be a configuration issue with your RS server.

I am trying to work through Deploying the AdventureWorks Sample Reports found within the Sample Directory installed with SQL Express. I’m sure I’ve followed the clear guide lines given. I’m actually trying this because another Microsoft tutorial resulted in the same problem.
My initial thought was that the server wasn’t running I tried this step below also found on the Sample Reports instructions:-
Type the Report Manager URL in the address bar of a Web browser. By default, the URL is http://<webservername>/reports. If you are using SQL Server Express, the default URL is http://localhost/reports$SQLExpress.
This didn’t work, I note the URL is different to one generating the error message.What should I expect if this is my first deployment?
Also is it possible to identify if the server is running using Services from Administrative Tools (Control Panel)?

I must apologise after much digging around I found this tiny caveat in the system requirements required to run SQL Server Express with Advanced Services on XP Home
1Reporting Services, which is installed as part of SQL Server Express with Advanced Services, will not install on operating systems that do not include Internet Information Services (IIS).

I guess this is my problem. I wrongly assumed that Microsoft had taken a similar approach to this VERY VERY annoying IIS problem for XP Home users as they had done with their Visual Web Developer Express editions.
It seems the report writer software works as long as you don’t deploy, so I can at least get an idea on how to use it.

I Guys, Im looking for a bit of help on this matter myself we have installed Sharepoint 2007 and SQL 2005 on a 64 bit Windows 2003 server and im trying to deploy a reporting service site each time i do i get
TITLE: Microsoft Report Designer
A connection could not be made to the report server http://srv1-tcrb/ReportServer.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The request failed with the error message:

|||I faced the same problem...
I tried many funny things... initially, I got it to work a bit and not entirely.
You can check out my documented troubleshooting events here.
But the conclusion is like what you have mentioned.
Eventually, the real solution is to reinstall SQL Server 2005 Express with Advance Features (reporting services) using default settings (local system account and also for Report Server) and then it worked! But actually I reinstalled two times.
But it could be possible that during previous installations, certain settings were skipped by the installer and caused the misbehaviour.

|||At the risk of sounding and appearing stupid try using the url in the format http://servername/reportserver2005. Adding the 2005 at the end did the trick for me.|||That is a link for Sql Reporting from 2000. I have the problem for 2005.

Error "Physical Database Not found" When Loading Report
Hi, i'm using CR 8.5, vb6, using acces 2000, data environment and win xp.
i have installed my application to another computer, which use win98 and don't have access 2000.
when i'm installing my application i got this error message "craxddrt failed to register" and then i select ignore to continue the installation...
when i run my application and loading report i got this error message "Physical database not found"
my question is
is the first error is causing the second error? or the database path that im using is not right?
i already tried to install seagate crystal report on the computer but when installing it also have the same error, error 1904 failed to register craxddrt.dll..

Error "Line too long" - Report too large?
I'm working with a report which is being generated dynamically through
an XML and XSLT transform which generates the .rdl file which is then
pasted in to the code view of a report file in Visual Studio. This
process has worked so far for various reports until we came to this
latest report.
This report is a bit larger in scale, all together the final file size
of the .rdl file is just about 2MB. Of course it's a bit slow to work
with in Visual Studio, but the goal again was to generate the .rdl
dynamically so that editing the file(s) in Visual Studio would not be
necessary.
The report loads fine into Visual Studio and the layout view of the
report looks fine as well, but when we attempt to preview the report,
we get a build error which states:
[rsUnexpectedCompilerError] An unexpected error occurred while
compiling expressions. Native compiler return value: '[BC30494] Line
is too long.'.
I've attempted to locate information on the error message or the error
code itself but can't find any references anywhere. The error is
occurring on compilation of the report - because the same error occurs
when we select 'Build' from the context menu of the report.
So since it's a compilation error and the message seems to indicate
that the error occured while compiling expressions (and expressions use
VB.NET syntax) my assumption is that the source of the report is
somehow being passed in as a parameter to a version of the VB.NET
compiler and then spit back out for further processing.
If you follow that logic, my first thought was that perhaps one of the
expressions was literally too long and perhaps needed to be broken up
into smaller lines. But this was not the case. As the longest 'line' in
the report is 384 characters. Not long enough to cause any problems.
And we have other reports with lines just as long which do compile.
My next thought was that the entire source of the .rdl file was being
passed in to the compiler as a single string for parsing and execution
(e.g. turning the expressions into actual values or something similar).
If this is the case, then perhaps it's the actual size (in characters
or bytes) of the .rdl file that was the problem.
That's currently where I am now. I've narrowed it down to a theoretical
file size limit.
While trimming the report down piece by piece, I've discovered that the
same report works when it is in the area of 1.63 MB in size. However,
as soon as the report reaches 1.79 MB in size, this error returns and
the report fails to build.
I've seen other posts and documentation regarding the theoretical or
imposed limits of IIS and other platforms for uploading reports to
report server, but we are still below the 4MB limit.
I've also seen other posts by users who have asked about reports in the
range of <1MB, but ours is clearly outside that range.
So, does anyone have any information related to this error message, any
limits on .rdl file size, or suggestions for getting this to work?In case anyone is interested about this later on, I haven't found a

I have been workiing with it and deploying various versions of this

unexpectedly when iam to go live tomm Iam getting this error ,

Using Crystal Reports 8.5, RDC, VB6, Win2k for both Dev and client
I'm trying to export a report to pdf, but keep getting:
Error -2147190908 (80047784) "Failed to Export the Report"
It exports fine on my Dev machine, but not on the client machine. I've earched the internet high and low for the answer. The only thing I found was a missing or incorrectly registered ExportModellar.dll and crtslv.dll. I verified that both of those files as well as the correct Destination and ExportType dlls are installed and registered properly. I even reinstalled CR 8.5 on that machine! I have no idea what to try next!
I even downloaded Crystal's Modules utility that supposed to tell you the differences between the dlls being used on 2 different machines. ExportModellar was version 8.5 on the client machine and version 9.1 on my machine, so I upgraded ExportModellar to 9.1 on the client machine, but it didn't help.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
