error 18456 when running job

sql2k sp3
Ive got a job that creates a folder both on the local box
and on the remote box. This job has run every nite
successfully for a few weeks now. Last nite it failed with
message: Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS
LOGON'. [SQLSTATE 28000] (Error 18456). The step failed.
I havent changed anything security or services related.
The sql services for both boxes run in the same domain
admin account.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Chris.Try making the job owner sa. I've seen this and it ideespeared when I did that.

error 1722 starting sqlserveragent

(this is a repost, the original post was mistakenly posted to the odbc
group)
Hello all,
I have a nightly job which runs under the SQLServerAgent service on my
SQLServer2000 database. Someone mentioned that the jobs did not run
last night, so I logged in to the server to see why, and I noticed that
the SQLServerAgent service was not running, which seemed like something
that would prevent jobs under it from being executed.
However, when I try to right-click/Start the SQL Server Agent i get the
following error:
An error 1722 - (The RPC server is unavailable) occurred while
performing this service operation on the SQLServerAgent service.
But that's all it says. I've looked in the SQL Server Agent logs, as
well as the Windows Event View application logs, and no further
information is provided in either location.
Can anyone tell me what kinds of things might cause this error? I'm not
even sure where to begin looking.
Thanks
JasonMy guess (only a guess, though) is that you aren't sitting on the SQL Server
machine doing this. So
you are using EM remotely to start the service and something goes bad in the
remote communications
to start the service. First step I'd try is to login locally on the machine
(possibly using Remote
Desktop) and start the service using the Services Applet.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;281642
I followed the tip above but it didn't work. anyone know of other workaround
?
I restore a copy of my Production DB on a TestDB, the scheduled jobs get
copied over as well. Cannot removed these job frm the Test DB because of
error 14274.
I logon the Test DB on workgroup, rename to original server name (on
workgroup because the Production still exist on the network), tried to
delete the jobs, SQL doesn't allow also. At the moment, I stopped the SQL
Agent Service to prevent the jobs frm running.
How to remove the jobs in the Test DB for good ?Don't bother with the rename stuff. Simply update the originating_server
column to reflect the new server name.
Have a look at http://sqldev.net/download/sqlagent/sp_sqlagent_rename.sql

error 14269

Hi
When i am changing the owner which is the default owner
for SQL Agent Job, I am getting error as
Error 14269: Job 'DB Maintenance Plan ' ia already

The jobs are failing becuase of other user created the
jobs.
Thanks,

originating_server in msdb..sysjobs to make sure it's
correct.

Error 14258: ... SQL ServerAgent is starting

Whenever I attempt to edit/run/... a scheduled job, I get the error message:
"Error 14258: Cannot perform this operation while SQL ServerAgent is
starting. Try again later."
I also notice that all scheduled jobs have "Date/time not available" in
"Next Run Date".
Of course Agent is not starting now, it has already started (Alerts and
Operators can be edited without a problem). The server is SQL2000, SP4.
Check the status of the service from Administrative Tools -
is the service Running or Starting?
Alerts and operators can be edited without Agent running.
Also check your Agent.out file.

with the server and the machine; nothing worked. The service is reported to

Also, when I stop the service I can edit jobs or create new ones, but there

For the last two days I've been getting this error whenever I click on a Job
in Enterprise Manager:
Error 14258: Cannot perform this operation while SQLServerAgent is starting.
Try again later.
Any idea what is causing this? Agent appears to be running - it is
performing the assigned tasks on schedule.Hi,
The SQLServerAgent has NOT started properly after a
shutdown/reboot two days ago. If you look at the service
manager, the service appears to have started, but its
really not.
Here is what you have to do:
Stop the SQLServerAgent (Not SQL Server)
Restart the service (make no errors are recorded)
Here is something else you may have not noticed, since
this error has been occurring, your scheduled jobs have
not run. You might want to backup your databases and run
any other jobs you may have.

Error 1105 When Using SQLMaint To Reindex Tables

I have a standard reorganise/reindex job running against a 32GB database on SQl Srever 2000. When trying to run the job it fails and returns Error 1105 <'PRIMARY' filegroup is full>. What's confusing me is that I have 53GB free on the drive on which my Primary file group sits.

Has anyone else come accross this problem when trying to set up a regular reindex job?

(more detail) the maintenance plan only includes the reorganisation/reindex job, no other jobs - including backing up the DB - are included. The DB in question is the only DB on the server: it's a test server.Sounds like you've restricted the file growth size...go to the database properties and tell us what it's set to...|||Brett,

You were right, log size was being restricted. Funny how you miss the obvious stuff.....

Many Thanks

Matthew

Error 11 in Agent Job

We're getting an error message ConnectionRead (WrapperRead()). [SQLSTATE 01000] (Message 258) General network error. Check your network documentation. [SQLSTATE 08S01] (Error 11). The step failed.
when running an agent job which updates from one Database to another but still on the same server. If we run the job from T-SQL it works fine. Eventually though the service degenerates and we can't run the job as either an agent or a T-SQL script and we h
ave to re-build the server.
Any ideas what would cause this problem and how we can rectify it?
Please check your Server network utilities. Make sure that TCP/IP and Named
pipes values are not blank by clicking on the Properties.
thanks.

Error '0x8000ffff' occurred during full-text index population

I have a nightly job scheduled by the SQL Agent scheduler to run full-text
creations nightly, and I have noticed that the following error message
appears during the process of trying to index a number of tables (but not
all).
can someone please provide some advice as to what might be causing this
error to occur - and what I should be looking at to resolve this issue.

Andy,
Do the SQL logs report any more information, or the Windows Event Logs?
Error '0x8000FFFF' (2147549183) often means "Unexpected failure", so
additional information from the logs might help.

Unfortuanately the event logs tell me to look at the full crawl logs - and
it is the full crawl logs which have this error code contained within them.
If, as you suggest the code is a non specific one, how on earth am I going
to track down what is causing the error to be thrown in the first place!!
Thanks for your response - any other suggestions very welcome

|||Andy,
I scoured my various crawl logs to see if I ever got the same message, but I
have not. I see that missing iFilters are an 'expected' error and are
reported on properly, etc, etc. through the problems that came to my mind.
Do the files that produce these errors remain the same from day to day? Do
they share any characteristic in common, such as file type, length of file
name, directory nesting, embedded bitmaps, etc? I have not a clue as to
what is wrong, but any information that gives a hint would help.

error 0x80004005 when copying tables between servers

hi
I've got a job which copy tables between different servers .
I am feeding the tables one by one and the process of copying is in a loop so I have cotrol over the copying process.
it works fine but sometimes randomly I am getting

Execution failed with the following error: "ERROR : errorCode=-1071636471 description=SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005.
An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Invalid character value for cast specification".
An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Invalid character value for cast specification".
helpFile=dtsmsg.rll helpContext=0 idofInterfaceWithError={8BDFE893-E9D8-4D23-9739-DA807BCDC2AC}".

and the process fails and this might happen for in any point and on any table and sometimes it runs all the way successfully!!
any idea what the problem might be!
ThanksDo the tables have exactly the same structure? If not then I'd suggest it is as indicated a simple conversion error due to a type mismatch.|||Yes they are exactly the same is if it isn't it shouldn't run successfully sometimes!|||

Unless they aren't the same, but normally the data can be explicitly cast to the destination type. Perhaps, though, that sometimes there is data in the source that cannot be cast.

How do you copy the tables?|||using the SSIS Object trasfer task object, and also I have to mention it is from sql 2000 to 2005
thanks|||

Can you by chance post the create table statement for your table in SQL Server 2000?

Error : Difference of two datetime columns caused overflow at runtime.

At my job is a dts package that is failing in SQL 2005. I am not a SQL
expert. I am just trying to fix. I put the query in Query Analyzer
and get this error:

(4322 row(s) affected)

Server: Msg 535, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Difference of two datetime columns caused overflow at runtime.

I am just trying to understand what this means, what I should be
looking for and what could be wrong. Here is the query:

SELECT i.SerialNumber, '' AS mac_number, DATEDIFF([second], 'Jan 1,
1970', s.DateOrdered) AS Support_StartDt, DATEDIFF([second], 'Jan 1,
1970',
s.Warranty_Enddate) AS Support_EndDt,
DATEDIFF([second], 'Jan 1, 1970', c.Registration_Date) AS
Registration_Date, c.FirstName AS enduser_fname,
c.LastName AS enduser_lname, c.CompanyName AS
enduser_companyname, c.ContactEmail AS enduser_email, c.Address AS
enduser_address1,
c.Address2 AS enduser_address2, c.City AS
enduser_city, c.State AS enduser_state, c.Zip AS enduser_zip,
c.WorkPhone AS enduser_phone,
c.Fax AS enduser_fax, d.DealerName AS
dealer_companyname, d.ContactFirstName AS dealer_fname,
d.ContactLastName AS dealer_name,
d.Address1 AS dealer_address, d.City AS
dealer_city, d.State AS dealer_state, d.Zip AS dealer_zip,
d.ContactPhone AS dealer_phone,
d.ContactFax AS dealer_fax,
ISNULL(SUBSTRING(p.ProductName, 11, LEN(p.ProductName) - 10), 'unknown
IWP product') AS product_type, '' AS extra1,
'' AS extra2, '' AS extra3, '' AS extra4, '' AS
extra5, '' AS extra6, '' AS extra7
FROM tblInventory i full outer JOIN
tblDealers d ON i.DealerID = d.DealerID full
OUTER JOIN
tblSupport s ON i.InventoryID = s.InventoryID
full outer JOIN
tblCustomers c ON s.InventoryID = c.InventoryID
LEFT OUTER JOIN
tblProducts p ON LEFT(i.SerialNumber,
PATINDEX('%-%', i.SerialNumber)) = p.SerialPrefix
WHERE i.SerialNumber <> ''

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.geekwagon@.gmail.com (geekwagon@.gmail.com) writes:

One or of the rows has a value that is in 2038 or later in one of the
columns. My bets are on Warranty_Enddate and somehas put in 99991231
for an infinite warranty.

(2038-01-19 03:14:07.000 is the time when the number of seconds since
1970-01-01 exceeds the range of an un integer.)

DATEDIFF produces an error if the result is out of range for integer
values. For milliseconds, the maximum number is 24 days, 20 hours, 31
minutes and 23.647 seconds. For seconds, the maximum number is 68 years.
