SERVICE, but even this i didn't find in SQL server logs as you have
mentioned. If i have to check for correct password then where? because i am
not providing here any password during "set configuration database server". I
am selecting the following options which is mandatory as per installation
guide for MS project 2003 server.
1. Database server = "i give sql server name"
2. SQL server database name = "database name as sharepointdb"
3. selected the option "use windows authentication
4. then last option " users already have domain accounts. Do not creat
active directory accounts.
I dont see any NT AUTHORITY account in active directory to give permission
for database create or to see for its password, please let me know
Thanks & Regards

Error 1389 (aka 0x80070576 or STATUS_TIME_DIFFERENCE_AT_DC or ERROR_TIME_SKEW)?

Hello
When executing a BULK INSERT sql statement from within a program one of our
clients gets:
SQL Server Error: SQL State: 42000, SQL Error Code: 4861
Could not bulk insert because file
'\\W2K3SRV2\DTASQL$\Xtb860_dv_salspec.TXT' could not be opened. Operating
system error code 1398(There is a time and/or date difference between the
client and server.).
I have looked around the MS Knowledgebase, Google groups, and the internet
in general and have come up with two articles
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=830619
http://www.myitforum.com/articles/8/view.asp?id=6853
but they do not seem to apply to SQL Server. Our app *is* running on a
W2003Server machine named W2K3SRV2 with SQL Server 2000 on another
W2003Server machine named W2K3SRV4, so SQL server is fetching the text file
from W2K3SRV2.
BITS (as mentioned in the first link) is running on W2K3SRV2 but has no
connection with our app.
What could be going on here?
TIA
JanHave you tried syncing the times on the client and server with the domain
controller? Although the article doesn't mention SQL Server specifically,
any application using the underlying Win32 API could get error code 1398 due
to the time difference.

Hope this helps.

It is the standard COM error. After seeing the same ones for 10 years, you
generally get to know them.
You can strip the last 4 characters, and use them as Tibor Karaszi noted in
his post.

Ok, I found the error. Somebody activated a second NIC on the server and
that mangled the network routes. The server that was being requested was not
available by pinging. That is way the error was raising on the "send"
method.
Thanks you all for the hints

error [could not find st.proc. "user _get total users"]

I installed a cd program and the sql database 2000 included in the cd.
However, when launching the program I get a message "could not find stored

d
not find stored procedure 'user -name in use '. The provider has no idea .
System is a P4 XP home sp2
I am not a specialist so before going to deep dive in the systems, is there
any thing "simple" than can be done ?From what CD do you install, is it a vendor specific Database (MSDE). What
"Program" are you starting when you get that error. Seems to me that this
might be a vendor specific problem, if you got an individual coded app.
More Information would be great.

to install SQL.The error starts after launching the program ( ican see part
of it) , it seems that it sends a login not registered in SQL, there must be
somewhere a table to update .
I have reintsalled everything including the sql, but the problem is still
there.
the strange thing is that in the very first install worked fine. I had to
reinstall x p and to reinstall all the programs, all went fine except for
this one.

Error (1552) ODBC, Insert Execute Error

Hi, I have a program called dbms/copy that I use to conver clarion database tables. The program first creates the table, if already exists I delete and recreate. This part works fine. When it tries to insert the records I get the following error message:

Error (1552)

ODBC, Insert Execute Error -> Buffer Contained 100 Records but only 0 Records were written

I created a System DSN ODBC link to the SQL Server. I tried using the "sa" user, as well as creating a user and checking off all available permissions. It seems to be a permissions problem to me, although it appears I have permission to do everything. It is definately able to connect since it has no problem creating/deleting/recreating the table in the SQL Server database.

I tried doing the same import with an ODBC connection to a Microsoft Access database and it works without any problems.

Any idea what's giving me this error?I turned on ODBC tracing and the following errors showed up in the SQL.log file:

Error - Cannot open the datafile

Hi there,

I have written a program that loads a package (SomePackage.dtsx) from the physical drive and executes that. The package does nothing but imports data from a csv file to the Sql server 2005. But I can see that the package is failing continuously. I meant the package.Execute() method is returning a DTSExecResult.Failure. I investigated the Package.Errors property that contains the error collection and found that there are two DTSError objects into the collection.

The first one’s description says that

Cannot open the datafile "D:\SOME.csv".

And the later one’s is

component "SOURCE FLAT FILE COMPONENT" (1) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC020200E.

But the most interesting thing is if I execute the package through the Execute package Utility (double clicking onto the SomePackage.dtsx file) ships with Sql server 2005 then it executes fine and works as expected. I have checked the permission of the csv file and it has everyone’s full access.

Can anyone help me on this?

I will appreciate all kind of suggestions.

Thanks

Moim

Hi,

"right click" the "flatfile connection manager"

click on "Edit". there are several properties here that needs to be configured

one of which is the "format".. make sure its "delimited" or something that suits your need.

if it didn't solve your problem try other properties

in this area.

joey

What is different about when you use your tool vs dtexecui?

Is this the same machine?

Is this the same user running both tools?

|||

Darren,

Basically I can see the only difference is when I am running through the code it is failing and when I am running from the windows explorer it is working.

Nothing more. It is same machine, same user.

Any Idea?

Thanks

Moim

|||

joeydj,

Im afraid, I have created that package programmatically so I dont have a scope to edit that inside the Sql Server BI editor. anyway, I checked out and these properties are set.

Any Idea?

Thanks

Moim

|||Is your file on a mapped drive, by chance?|||

Brammer,

No its on a local drive (drive D: ).

Any other idea?

THanks

Moim

|||

Ok, so same package, same machine, same user, same execution parameters, just a different execution host... does not make much sense.

Try adding logging to the package, something simple like log all warnings and errors to a text file. Any other errors? There must be some difference but that error is not very clear as to what.

Erratic connections to SQL database

We are running SBS 2003 Premium with SP1.
Each PC runs a small VB .exe, a booking program, which we use as a front end
to SQL database.
Since installing ISA Server 2004 and SQL2K SP4 several machines now have
trouble running the booking program. It hangs for up to 30 seconds at a time
in different parts of the process but always, apparently, when it is trying
to access the SQL data. A booking that should take no more than half a minute
is now taking 5 minutes or more.
All other machines running the same program do not have a problem. I have
slowly eliminated user issues, log in issues and possible physical (network)
problems.
Now I am baffled!
Any suggestions please!

Is your ISA server throttling bandwidth for some reason?
What type of connection are you using? Named Pipes? TCP/IP?
What is the speed of the network? What are your NIC cards set to if they
can do both 10/100/1000 for example.
